12BT, Bead 12, 12 Tehni

12BT, also known as 12 Tehni, is a classic two-player board game.

12BT (a traditional game) is a chess-like game for two players. Each player controls 12 pawns. When a player wishes to move a bead (Tehni/Guti), two options exist. First, if all adjacent positions around the bead are empty, it can move to any empty spot. Second, if a player can jump over an opponent's bead, that opponent's bead is captured. The winner is the player who captures all 12 of their opponent's beads.

It is similar to Draughts or Checkers (also known as Dame or Damas). A related Arabic game is Quirkat or Alquerque (القرقات). Alquerque, Quirkat, Halma, Chinese Checkers, and Konane are all games of a similar type. The board and setup of Alquerque closely resemble that of Bara Biti. While the board setup for Draughts/Checkers is different, anyone familiar with those games can easily learn to play Quirkat, Alquerque, and this game.
