Ubisoft has revealed an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a range of new features to keep players engaged. This includes the introduction of new game+ mode, additional difficulty settings, new story content, and much more. The company shared these plans in a detailed four-and-a-half-minute video update, offering a glimpse into what fans can expect throughout 2025.
The roadmap, which was outlined in a video released today, provides a specific schedule for May and June. Ubisoft aims to maintain player interest with a series of free updates throughout the year. The first update, titled "The Works of Luis Frois," is set to launch in early May. This free story add-on will come with a Codex update and various quality-of-life improvements, including significant enhancements to parkour mechanics and an update to the photo mode. These updates are part of Ubisoft's ongoing commitment to responding to community feedback and enhancing the gaming experience for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Community developer Daniel St. Germain emphasized the importance of player feedback in the development process, stating, “Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released. Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms.”
In June, players can look forward to another free story drop, along with new challenging difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the choice to keep headgear on or off during cutscenes. These additions address player requests and are designed to enhance gameplay. Further down the line, Ubisoft plans to introduce new game+ support, more story content, special collaborations, and other exciting features before the year ends.
The highlight of the roadmap is the first major DLC expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." Scheduled for release later in the year, this expansion promises new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore, spanning a 10-hour adventure. While pricing details for "Claws of Awaji" have not been disclosed, it will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing the beloved stealth series to the backdrop of Feudal Japan. The game has already made a significant impact, securing a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and becoming the best-selling game of last month.
