A Decade of Development
Dragon Age: The Veilguard's development has been a long and complex process, marked by significant delays spanning almost a decade. Initially starting in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, development was impacted by BioWare's focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, diverting key resources and personnel. Further complicating matters, the original design clashed with the company's shift towards live-service games, leading to a complete halt in development.
The project was resurrected in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." After several more years of development, the game was formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, before settling on its current title.
Despite the challenges, the wait is almost over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Prepare for your return to Thedas—the journey is nearing its end!
