The eagerly anticipated Dragon Quest 12 continues to be in development, with series creator Yuji Horii sharing that information about the game will be released gradually. During a livestream with his radio show group, KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, Horii confirmed that the dedicated team at Square Enix is "working hard" on the project. This update marks the first news on Dragon Quest 12 since May 2024, when Horii had previously addressed the heartbreaking losses of the series' character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama. Amidst restructuring at Square Enix and a period of silence, fans had voiced concerns that Dragon Quest 12 might have been canceled. However, Horii's recent statements reassure fans that the game is still very much in the works.
