Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Mobile RPG Beta Test Announced
Netmarble's upcoming mobile RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, has unveiled a new gameplay trailer and details about its closed beta test. This action-adventure title, set during the show's fourth season, promises engaging combat and a rich narrative experience.
The closed beta, running from January 16th to 22nd, 2025, in the US, Canada, and select European regions, offers fans an early look at the game before its full release later this year. Players can register via the game's official website.
Featuring class-based progression with "fully manual" controls, Kingsroad boasts impressive graphics and a compelling story centered around a new character, heir to House Tyrell in the North. Popular characters like Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and even Drogon are confirmed to appear. The game's combat is described as "raw, aggressive, and destructive."
Originally announced in November 2024 and further highlighted at The Game Awards, Kingsroad leverages the rich lore and character narratives from George R.R. Martin's books and the HBO series. The over-one-minute trailer showcases the class-based system, allowing players to choose from classes like knights and assassins.
The game's setting in the fourth season of the show allows for a unique story incorporating elements inspired by Wildlings, Dothraki, and the Faceless Men. While fans eagerly await The Winds of Winter, Kingsroad provides a significant interim Game of Thrones experience. This, alongside other projects like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon season 3, keeps fans engaged.
