Killing Floor 3 Postponed for Late 2025 Launch
Citing Disappointing Beta Test Results

On March 7, 2025, Tripwire, the developer of Killing Floor 3 (KF3), announced via the game’s official Bluesky account that the eagerly awaited cooperative survival horror shooter would be delayed to an unspecified date later in 2025 due to unsatisfactory beta test feedback. This unexpected update came just three weeks before the originally planned March 25 release.
"We have chosen to delay Killing Floor 3’s release to an undetermined date later in 2025. After carefully reviewing and discussing feedback from the recent closed beta, we recognized that we fell short of expectations. Our vision extends beyond making Killing Floor 3 a significant evolution for the series—we aim to preserve the core gameplay that fans know and love," Tripwire stated in the Bluesky post. The developers assured the community that they are actively tackling prevalent issues identified during testing, including performance and stability, user interface and experience, lighting, and weapon responsiveness.

Fans expressed their disappointment with the beta version on social media, describing it as "extremely clunky and awkward" and an "unpolished, bug-filled, nauseating mess." Another user, Captain_Pugman, voiced concerns on the game’s subreddit, asking, "When did the developers lose sight of what made Killing Floor unique? Currently, Killing Floor 3 appears to be striving to be everything except what it should be—a genuine Killing Floor experience." Additional critiques highlighted the shift from the series’ horror roots toward a more futuristic sci-fi aesthetic, as well as the inability to independently select characters and classes, since classes were tied to specific characters in the beta.
Tripwire ended the announcement on an optimistic note, stating, "We eagerly anticipate the chance to present a more refined version of Killing Floor 3 in the future. Once we are prepared to share further updates, you will be the first to know. We sincerely appreciate your ongoing patience and tremendous support."
Automatic Pre-Order Refunds for Most Platforms Except Steam

In light of the delay, Senior Community Manager Yoshiro provided details on the Tripwire Interactive Killing Floor 3 forums regarding the handling of digital pre-orders. He explained that once the postponement is updated across all storefronts, refund and cancellation procedures will commence automatically.
For PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic Games Store customers, all pre-orders will be canceled and refunded without requiring any action from users. However, PlayStation users in the United States will be offered the option to either cancel and receive a refund or retain their pre-order for the future release. If no response is received within a specified timeframe, the pre-order will be canceled and refunded by default.
Players who pre-ordered Killing Floor 3 on Steam must manually request a refund by canceling their order and submitting a refund ticket through Steam Support. Those who purchased through third-party platforms or retailers not mentioned above should contact the respective vendor directly and adhere to the store’s specific refund policy.
