The long-awaited details about the Nintendo Switch 2 have finally been unveiled, and the specs are more impressive than many anticipated. The new console supports up to 120fps and can reach a stunning 4K resolution when docked, promising a significant upgrade in gaming experience.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to its predecessor, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. The screen resolution has doubled, supporting 1080p at up to 120fps in handheld mode, and it's an LCD screen that supports HDR. When docked, it can deliver up to 4K resolution with HDR, enhancing the visual quality for docked play.The Joy-Con 2 controllers feature a new magnetic connection system and can be detached with a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, improving the feel when playing in horizontal mode, and the left and right sticks have also been upsized. Additionally, the Direct confirmed the inclusion of mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand than the original Switch, allowing for different viewing angles. A top USB port adds versatility, enabling external camera connectivity or charging the system in tabletop mode.
Lastly, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
