"Nintendo Switch 2 Video Leaked and Removed Early"

Author: Connor May 28,2025

It appears that some individuals have managed to get their hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 before its official release, despite Nintendo's efforts to keep it under wraps. However, enthusiasts hoping for early gameplay footage will be disappointed; the console is reportedly unusable without a day-one patch, and any leaked videos are quickly being taken down due to copyright claims.

An eight-second YouTube video, originally shared by user Ali Almarzooqi and viewed by IGN, showed what appeared to be an authentic unboxing of the Nintendo Switch 2. The video, which has since been removed due to a copyright strike from anti-piracy firm Web Capio, simply displayed the console's hardware inside its packaging. The swift action taken against the video suggests that the console might indeed be real, but its authenticity remains unconfirmed until June 5, when the alleged day-one patch is expected to be released.

Ali Almarzooqi mentioned on social media that the console requires an update to function properly, stating, "Nintendo locked the Switch 2; it needs an update to function, so I am waiting for June 5th to unlock it." This claim was further supported by another individual who reportedly received a message prompting a system update when attempting to boot a Switch 1 game on the new console.

While these could be elaborate fakes, any further evidence such as a full unboxing or system update notifications could soon confirm their legitimacy. Until then, the gaming community will have to rely on official updates from Nintendo to learn more about the Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo has already shared some details about the new console, including gameplay of Mario Kart World, free performance upgrades for Switch 1 games, variable refresh rate support, and details about the GameChat feature, which will require phone number verification. Despite the rapid sell-out of pre-orders last month, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser has assured that there will be sufficient stock to meet demand during the holiday season.
