Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement comes from a recent press release that also highlighted significant changes within Sony's corporate structure. Sony's CFO, Hiroki Totoki, is set to become the president and CEO of the entire Sony Corporation, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida, who has been at the helm since April 2018 after taking over from Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, currently the SVP of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, will step into the role of CFO.

Just last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was decided that leadership of SIE would be split between Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst was appointed to head PlayStation Studios, while Nishino took charge of hardware and technology. With Nishino's new role as the sole CEO, he will now oversee the entire SIE operation in addition to leading the platform business group. Hulst will continue to focus specifically on PlayStation Studios.

Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000, previously held the position of SVP of the Platform Experience Group. Expressing his enthusiasm about his new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
