Leaked specifications suggest Nvidia's upcoming flagship graphics card, the RTX 5090, will feature a substantial 32GB of GDDR7 video memory—double that of the anticipated RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti. This impressive memory capacity, however, comes at a cost: a power draw of 575W. The official unveiling of the RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5090, is scheduled for Nvidia's CES 2025 keynote on January 6th.

The RTX 50 series, codenamed Blackwell, represents Nvidia's next-generation graphics cards, arriving over two years after the RTX 40 series launch. Building upon the RTX 40 series' success, the RTX 50 series will leverage Nvidia's Tensor Cores for AI processing, alongside features like DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support (on compatible motherboards). This new lineup will succeed the RTX 40 series (some models of which, like the RTX 4090D and RTX 4070, have been discontinued) and compete directly against AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel's Battlemage GPUs.

Pre-CES leaks, initially reported by VideoCardz, showcased Inno3D's iChill X3 RTX 5090. This triple-fan card, occupying over three expansion slots, confirms the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the significant 575W power requirement—a notable increase from the RTX 4090's 450W.

The Nvidia RTX 5090: High Memory, High Power, High Price?

The RTX 5090's specifications are undeniably impressive, but this performance is expected to come at a premium. While Nvidia remains tight-lipped on pricing, rumors suggest an MSRP exceeding $1999. The card will utilize a 16-pin power connector, though adapters will be readily available.
