Pokémon Sleep’s development is transitioning from Select Button to Pokémon Works. This newly established Pokémon Company subsidiary will now oversee the game's ongoing development and future updates.

From Select Button to Pokémon Works

Launched in March, Pokémon Works, a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company, has assumed responsibility for Pokémon Sleep. Previously, development and operation were jointly managed by Select Button Co., Ltd. and The Pokémon Company, Ltd. The in-app announcement, using machine translation, confirmed the gradual shift of development and operation from Select Button to Pokémon Works.

This announcement appeared in the Japanese version of the Pokémon Sleep app. The global app's news section hasn't yet reflected this change.

Pokémon Works' current projects remain largely undisclosed. However, their website reveals the company's formation from The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. It's also located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, near ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a co-developer of Pokémon HOME—a project Pokémon Works also contributed to.

While their direct Pokémon involvement has been limited, Pokémon Works aims to “create an experience that makes Pokémon more real… so that everyone can enjoy meeting and adventuring with Pokémon.” The application of this vision to Pokémon Sleep remains to be seen.
