Author: Lucy May 14,2025

Hazelight's beloved co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has achieved a remarkable milestone, selling nearly four million copies. This impressive figure was confirmed by publisher EA in their latest financial results, where they hailed the game's launch as "hugely successful." EA also credited Split Fiction as a significant contributor to their strong finish in the 2025 financial year.

In a jubilant social media post, Hazelight celebrated the news, stating, "4 MILLION SOLD!!!! So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing… Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made…"

Split Fiction immerses players in the diverse worlds crafted by two fiction writers, offering a groundbreaking co-op experience where two players can enjoy the game even if only one owns it. Launched in March, the game quickly became a hit for Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, selling over two million copies within just one week. It's also set to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, as Hazelight begins development on their next project.

Adding to the excitement, a movie adaptation of Split Fiction is in the works, spearheaded by Story Kitchen, the studio behind the Sonic films. They are currently assembling a team of writers, a director, and a cast that will include Sydney Sweeney.

In our IGN Split Fiction review, we praised the game as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another." We noted that it offers "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced," keeping the experience "fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration."
