The Witcher saga continues! Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red has unveiled the first trailer for The Witcher 4, starring Ciri as the protagonist.
Ciri, Geralt's adopted daughter, takes center stage as the next generation of Witchers steps into the spotlight. The teaser shows Ciri intervening in a village's disturbing ritualistic sacrifice, revealing a far more complex situation than initially apparent.
While no official release date has been announced, considering the development times of previous titles (Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077), a three to four-year timeframe is plausible. Given this, The Witcher 4 is expected to be a current-generation console exclusive, likely releasing simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A Switch port (potentially on a future Switch iteration) remains a possibility, though less likely than previous installments.
Though gameplay details are scarce, the CGI trailer hints at familiar elements like potions, combat phrases, and magical Signs. A new addition may be Ciri's chain, used for both trapping monsters and channeling magic.
Rumors suggest Geralt will appear, possibly in a mentor role, as confirmed by Doug Cockle (Geralt's voice actor). However, this installment will undeniably focus on Ciri's journey.
