Zelda Spin-Off Invites Link to Join Adventure

Nintendo's upcoming title, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, slated for a September release, will feature Princess Zelda in her first starring role. A recent ESRB rating reveals a surprising twist: players will also control Link.

Link's Role Remains Mysterious

The ESRB listing confirms both Zelda and Link are playable characters. The game received an E 10+ rating and is free of microtransactions. The description highlights Zelda's quest to seal rifts across Hyrule and rescue Link. Gameplay mechanics include Zelda's magic wand summoning creatures (wind-up knights, pig soldiers, and slime) for combat, while Link utilizes his sword and arrows. Enemies are defeated through various means, including fire and disintegration.

This marks a significant departure for the Zelda franchise, placing Princess Zelda front and center as the protagonist. Following its announcement during the summer game showcase, Echoes of Wisdom quickly became a highly anticipated title.

The extent of Link's playable segments remains undisclosed. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches September 26, 2024.
