Atomic Heart 2 is officially in development at Mundfish, as announced today during Summer Game Fest. In addition to this exciting news, Mundfish also unveiled The CUBE, a brand-new multiplayer RPG shooter set within the Atomic Heart universe.

During a newly released trailer shown today, fans got their first glimpse of Atomic Heart 2, which is currently in development for both PC and console platforms. Continuing the legacy of its predecessor, the game remains an action-adventure first-person shooter infused with RPG mechanics, all set in a richly detailed retrofuturistic alternate history. In this world—once envisioned as a utopia where humans and robots coexisted harmoniously—advanced robotics and artificial intelligence have turned against their creators, leading to societal collapse. As the world teeters on the edge of destruction, the player enters the scene to prevent humanity's final downfall.

As for The CUBE, it expands the Atomic Heart universe but takes place years after the events of the original series. The story centers around a mysterious, colossal floating cube whose sudden appearance has triggered bizarre and alarming phenomena. Players must venture inside to uncover the Cube’s secrets and confront the existential threat it poses to humanity. The CUBE is being developed as a multiplayer RPG shooter for PC and consoles.

The original Atomic Heart launched in 2023 and was met with critical acclaim, including an 8/10 rating from IGN: “Atomic Heart is a deeply ambitious, highly imaginative, and consistently impressive atompunk-inspired attempt at picking up where the likes of BioShock left off – something it’s done with a lot of success,” noted the review.

Just last week, developer Mundfish shared that Atomic Heart has now surpassed 10 million players globally. Since launch, the game has seen multiple DLC expansions, with one final piece of downloadable content still in active development.
