Chibi-Robo! is the latest GameCube classic joining the Nintendo Switch 2's Nintendo Switch Online library, arriving as early as next week.
Nintendo's eShop summary had already confirmed the charming platformer was on the way, and now Nintendo has announced the date: August 21, 2025. It will be the second title added to the service since the Switch 2's launch in June, following Super Mario Strikers (known as Mario Smash Football in Europe).
Nintendo Switch Online is a subscription-based service for the Nintendo Switch platform. Memberships provide online multiplayer for competing or cooperating with friends, alongside access to a vast library of classic Nintendo games from across four decades. This includes titles from the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, and the recently introduced GameCube collection. A free seven-day trial is also offered.
The current GameCube lineup features games such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Soulcalibur II, and Super Mario Strikers. Other anticipated additions to the service include Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, and more. For the full nostalgic experience, an authentic replica GameCube controller is also available.
We praised Chibi-Robo! highly upon its original 2006 release, granting it an IGN Editor's Choice award and a solid 8.2/10 score, urging players to "Give it a chance."
"Many may dismiss this game at a glance, thinking it's too quirky or too cute," we noted in the IGN review of Chibi-Robo!. "While it is both of those things, it's also a thoroughly enjoyable, fun, and rewarding puzzle-platformer."
As for the Nintendo Switch 2 console itself? It has enjoyed a strong start, selling 3.5 million units, though an analysis of its launch week sales reveals a mixed performance for third-party games not published by Nintendo.
