Composer's New JRPG 'Persona and Metaphor: ReFantazio' Offers Free Steam Demo

The composer, who has been a pivotal part of Atlus since 1995, crafting iconic soundtracks for titles like the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series, is now steering the helm of an exciting new project: Guns Undarkness. This turn-based tactical JRPG, co-developed with the artistic flair of Ghost in the Shell character artist Ilya Kuvshino and the lyrical prowess of rapper Lotus Juice, known for his work in Persona 3, promises a unique gaming experience.

Guns Undarkness Will Launch Demo At Steam Next Fest

Mark your calendars for February 24, 2025, as Guns Undarkness will release a free demo at the upcoming Steam Next Fest. This eagerly anticipated game was first showcased at Indie Live Expo Winter 2021 and successfully met its Kickstarter stretch goals in 2022. Following the demo, the game will be available for early access later in 2025, published under the innovative banner of Kodansha Game Creators Lab.

Inspired by Metal Gear Solid and Persona

Set in the year 2045, Guns Undarkness immerses players in a world teetering on the edge of destruction. As a member of a private military company, you'll embark on missions to uncover the world's secrets and save humanity. The gameplay seamlessly blends stealth and combat, drawing inspiration from iconic titles like Metal Gear Solid and Persona. Stealth sections allow players to navigate undetected, gaining strategic advantages in turn-based battles where commanding your squad and utilizing various firearms are key to victory.

The upcoming demo, set to be available at Steam Next Fest, will offer around 20 minutes of gameplay. This includes a tutorial covering basic controls, the battle system, weapons, and strategies for the game's early stages. Guns Undarkness is slated for an Early Access release in Spring 2025, promising about 10 hours of immersive playtime on PC, though a specific release date has yet to be announced.
