Conquering the Lifer in Wuthering Waves 2.0

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found within the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to defeat this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer Board Game

Inside, players encounter a board game with six pieces. The goal is to connect three of your (black) pieces before the Lifer (white) does. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens walls and gates in that direction. The game can be exited and resumed, preserving piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Avoid winning before debuffing the Lifer, as it will immediately attack.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using Stakes of Imbalance, while three are permanent. These buffs are visible on a glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: HP recovery (10% Max HP/second) after 2 seconds without being attacked.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, plus an additional 25% ATK increase every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per hit (stacks up to 4 times), resetting after 6 seconds without dealing damage.
  • Decay of Time: 200% increased resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and a 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

To find the Stakes of Imbalance, use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (glowing white). One room requires Tacet Discord defeat, another Friable Rock destruction, and the final one is simply on a table.

Place each Stake in the corresponding module to remove a buff. The purple line will turn yellow upon successful debuffing.

Defeating the Lifer

With the four removable buffs gone, the Lifer is significantly weaker. Initiate combat via the board game or by selecting "Fight it out!". Its attacks pose minimal threat.

Rewards for defeating the Lifer:

  • First Victory: Premium Supply Chest
  • Second Victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
  • Third Victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests

Buffs can be re-enabled for a more challenging fight, though no achievements are tied to this.

Lifer Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's moves; it will eventually make a mistake.
