Disco Elysium, the acclaimed detective RPG, is now available on Android in a mobile-optimized format. Having launched on PC in 2019 to critical acclaim and multiple awards, its success was driven by deep exploration and intricate complexity.
What’s the plot?
In Disco Elysium, you assume the role of an amnesiac detective in Revachol—a crumbling metropolis steeped in grime, ideology, and shattered dreams. A murder awaits resolution, setting your journey in motion. The game is renowned for its dialogue-heavy interactions and choices that define your character.
A standout feature is the Thought Cabinet, which shapes how your detective perceives reality through a chorus of internal voices representing different facets of your psyche. Expect to interrogate suspects, recite drunken poetry at karaoke nights, and encounter other surreal moments throughout your investigation.
What’s different in Disco Elysium Mobile?
The writing remains dense and philosophical, staying true to the original story and narrative. However, this mobile adaptation feels more like a portable iteration of the classic title.
It operates entirely in portrait mode with new swipe-based navigation that differs significantly from the PC experience. The gameplay may feel slightly more linear, as certain areas become inaccessible once you move past them. Additionally, it features zero scrollbars, shorter text segments, and a static camera angle.
To enhance accessibility for mobile players, publisher Zaum Studio has introduced a 360-degree view system that helps anchor each scene spatially.
In some areas, the original voiceover is complemented by new hand-painted visuals, preserving the game’s distinctive artistic style.
Disco Elysium Mobile allows you to play the first two chapters for free, followed by a one-time payment to unlock the remainder. You can find it on the Google Play Store.
