Dune: Awakening global launch times set, includes early access

Funcom has announced the worldwide launch schedule for Dune: Awakening.

Drawing inspiration from Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Entertainment's cinematic masterpieces, Dune: Awakening is a survival MMO that transports players to the perilous sands of Arrakis - marking the franchise's first true open-world experience.

Master Fremen survival techniques while developing skills through combat, spice harvesting, construction, and commerce. Originally slated for May, the launch was postponed to June 10, 2025 (PC/PS5/Xbox Series X|S) following beta feedback, though early adopters gain five-day access starting June 5.

Our IGN beta preview noted: "As longtime Dune enthusiasts, exploring this beloved universe through Funcom's ambitious adaptation proves exhilarating, particularly their inventive parallel timeline approach that expands lore while maintaining authentic worldbuilding."

A recent developer livestream showcased previously unseen mid-to-late game content, revealing about 75% of Hagga Basin for the first time - including O'odham's fertile regions, the treacherous Hagga Rift, and Jabal Eifrit's towering formations. "The stream emphasized Arrakis' staggering scale and environmental diversity," the team explained.

"Players will experience a complete survival challenge before even confronting the Deep Desert's perils," Funcom teased. "Progress through Atreides or Harkonnen hierarchies, construct fortified bases, conquer Imperial testing grounds, and utilize specialized vehicles for exploration - all while the revolutionary Landsraad system lets players shape faction outcomes through preferred playstyles."
