As anticipated, EA is gearing up to bring its games to the Nintendo Switch 2. During a recent earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson addressed questions about Nintendo’s next-generation console, hinting at plans to launch several EA titles on the platform.

Wilson highlighted EA’s lucrative sports franchises, Madden and FC, noting they could gain “significant momentum” on the Nintendo Switch 2. He also mentioned The Sims as a title well-suited for the console.

“A new console entering the market is always advantageous for us, as it opens doors to new players,” Wilson stated. “Our franchises have historically thrived on Nintendo platforms. We expect titles like FC, Madden, and others to resonate strongly on this platform, as they have previously.”

“Take The Sims, for example. The My Sims cozy bundle exceeded our expectations, with 50% of its players being new to EA. This signals a tremendous opportunity for us.”

“While our current models don’t account for specifics, we anticipate that a powerful new console will enable us to tap into new audiences and communities, leveraging our IP to capitalize on this potential.”

It’s no shock that Madden and FC are slated for the Nintendo Switch 2, but fans are curious about what versions of these games will arrive. EA has previously released “legacy” versions of FIFA on the Nintendo Switch, though recent efforts have aimed for feature parity with the rebranded FC series. With the Switch 2’s enhanced power, FC 26 might align more closely with its PlayStation, Xbox, and PC counterparts.

Following Nintendo’s Switch 2 announcement, the gaming community is getting a clearer sense of the console’s lineup. Rumors swirl about third-party titles, with Civilization 7 developer Firaxis praising the Switch 2’s apparent Joy-Con mouse mode as “highly intriguing” in an IGN interview. Nacon, known for Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, confirmed it has Switch 2 games in development. Hollow Knight: Silksong is also rumored to launch on the platform.

As for Nintendo, a new Mario Kart is in the works. More details are expected at a Nintendo Direct in April.
