The Pointer Sisters' track "Hot Together" has experienced a phenomenal surge in Spotify streams after its inclusion in the newly released trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, which debuted just yesterday.
In the two hours immediately following the trailer's premiere, global Spotify streams for the 1986 hit skyrocketed by an astonishing 182,000%. Although Spotify's figures haven't been updated since yesterday, "Hot Together" currently stands at just over 250,000 streams, a number expected to rise significantly soon.
“Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else,” remarked Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial, Sulinna Ong. “Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans, both new and established, connecting with an iconic track in this way.”
It has now been 24 hours since Rockstar Games unveiled the latest trailer for GTA 6, which has already garnered an impressive 77.7 million views on YouTube at the time of this report. The resurgence of "Hot Together" is remarkable, yet not entirely surprising. When the first trailer for Rockstar's latest game was revealed in late 2023, featuring Tom Petty’s "Love Is A Long Road," it too saw a similarly massive boost in Spotify streams. This popularity sparked numerous fan theories about its potential connections to GTA 6’s storyline, though no such speculation has surfaced yet for "Hot Together."As fans eagerly await the (recently delayed) release of GTA 6 on May 26, 2026, Rockstar is providing them with plenty of great music to enjoy in the meantime.
