Author: Jason Jan 19,2026

We previously confirmed that Senua's Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced would come to PS5, and now we have an official release date: August 12th.

Ninja Theory's title will launch in two editions: a $49.99 Standard Edition, which includes the base game of Hellblade II along with all the enhancements and new features from the Enhanced update, and a $69.99 Deluxe Edition, which also bundles Hellblade I upgraded for PlayStation 5, plus the Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Original Soundtrack, "offering the ideal starting point for Senua's epic journey."

Players who already own the PlayStation 4 version of Hellblade I can upgrade to the PS5 edition at no additional cost.

It's also important to note that the Enhanced release, along with all the accompanying extras coming to PS5, will be delivered as a free update for PC and Xbox Series X|S. This includes the new Performance Mode, Dark Rot Mode — which introduces an "extra layer of challenge" — an upgraded Photo Mode, and behind-the-scenes developer commentary for those curious about the "creative process and design choices" behind Senua's Saga. Here’s a breakdown of these new features and improvements:

Performance Mode

– While the original version targeted 30fps for a cinematic and immersive experience, the Enhanced update introduces a 'Performance Mode' that prioritizes 60fps. On PC, the game will also include a "Very High" preset to maximize visual fidelity depending on your hardware.

Dark Rot Mode

– The sinister Dark Rot from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice makes a return in this optional game mode, providing an additional challenge. The Dark Rot spreads with each failure, and if it reaches Senua’s head, her quest ends and all progress is lost.

Enhanced Photo Mode

– The Enhanced update brings an expanded and refined toolset, including a new ‘Motion’ tab for custom cinematic video captures.

Developer Commentary

– For those interested in the artistic and creative decisions behind Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, the Enhanced update includes over four hours of commentary from various members of the development team.

We awarded Senua's Saga: Hellblade II a stellar 8/10 in our review, describing it as: "Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II delivers another visually and aurally stunning Viking-themed adventure that lives up to its predecessor, even if it doesn't significantly surpass it."
