Set five years before the events of Izuku Midoriya’s journey, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is a spin-off manga written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court. The anime adaptation is produced by Bones Studio, the same team behind the original series. IGN’s review of the premiere calls it "a worthy addition to the beloved superhero franchise." Here’s the official synopsis:
Koichi Haimawari is an unremarkable college student who once dreamed of becoming a hero but has since abandoned hope. In a world where 80% of the population possesses superhuman abilities known as Quirks, only a select few are chosen to become licensed heroes. Everything changes when Koichi and his friend Kazuho Haneyama, aka Pop☆Step, are rescued by the underground vigilante Knuckleduster. Inspired by his bravery, they decide to take justice into their own hands—operating outside the law as unsanctioned vigilantes in a city teeming with crime and corruption.
