Metro 2033: Cursed Station Game Guide

Despite launching over ten years ago, Metro 2033 remains a standout in the series, experiencing renewed interest after Metro Awakening's VR release. As the introduction to Artyom's journey, the game primarily unfolds in Moscow's underground tunnels. The ominous Cursed Station (known as Turgenevskaya in both the novels and reality) serves as the first encounter with supernatural anomalies, preceding a challenging rescue operation where Artyom and Khan assist survivors against waves of mutant nosalises.

Mission Strategy for The Cursed Station

This notorious segment has frustrated many players due to vague objectives and the station's complex layout. After witnessing anomalies eliminate the nosalis horde, Khan advances via railcar to the next station, where "Cursed" begins upon arrival.

Locating the Explosive Device

Upon meeting the defenders guarding the blocked escalators, they'll reveal that an earlier demolition team disappeared attempting to seal the tunnel against nosalis attacks. Your task involves retrieving the missing bomb and detonating it while fending off continuous nosalis assaults. Khan wisely advises retreating to defensive positions when overwhelmed.

Navigate to the far end of the right tunnel - ignoring the hazardous ghostly apparitions - to recover the explosive. Either proceed through the adjacent passageway or fall back to allies if enemies prove too numerous.

Executing the Demolition

After securing the explosive, proceed deep into the left tunnel (from the defenders' perspective) until the detonation cutscene triggers. While Artyom handles the setup, immediate evacuation is crucial - lingering near the blast radius proves fatal. Alternatively, collapsing the tunnel can also be achieved by lobbing grenades into the target area.

Sealing the Airlock

The station's protection requires one final measure: collapsing the airlock mentioned earlier. Ascend the right-side stairs to the torchlit platform area (disregarding roaming nosalises) and interact with the structural columns to place demolition charges. Rapid evacuation remains essential before detonation.

With both access points sealed, follow Khan to proceed through the shrine chamber and descend through the floor panel, advancing the narrative to the subsequent "Armory" mission.
