Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Approaches Its Launch Date
Fox Hunt Emerges as the New Original Multiplayer Experience, Replacing Metal Gear Online

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (MGS Delta) will debut an innovative multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt, taking the place of the classic Metal Gear Online. During the recent KONAMI PRESS START livestream on June 12, Fox Hunt Director Yu Sahara offered a closer look at the game's fresh approach to multiplayer.
Sahara described Fox Hunt as a "completely original online multiplayer mode" that exists within the same universe as MGS Delta but provides a distinct gameplay style. This new mode replaces Metal Gear Online, which first appeared in MGS3: Subsistence for the PS2.

He explained, "We deeply appreciate the loyal Metal Gear Online fans who have long awaited its return, but the multiplayer gaming landscape has transformed significantly since MGO's era." The team focused on elevating stealth and hide-and-seek mechanics to craft this next-generation multiplayer experience.
"Our goal was to create something truly unique—more than just another shooting game. We leveraged the tension of staying hidden and hunting enemies to build an online experience that could only exist in the Metal Gear universe," he continued.
Previous versions of Metal Gear Online (included with MGS3: Subsistence, MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, and MGS5: Phantom Pain) featured traditional competitive multiplayer. Sahara mentioned that additional details about Fox Hunt will be shared soon to give fans a deeper understanding of the new mode.
Snake vs. Bomberman Confirmed as Xbox Exclusive
In February, Konami announced that PlayStation 5 and Steam versions would exclusively feature the return of "Snake vs. Monkey." Simultaneously, they hinted at a similar mode coming to Xbox, though with a different character strongly suggested to be Bomberman.
This speculation was confirmed in MGS Delta's latest Xbox gameplay trailer, where developers unveiled the console-exclusive "Snake vs. Bomberman" mode. The trailer description states, "Take control of Snake and face off with Bomberman in this special side mode. Blast 'em away in each stage!"
Konami is committed to delivering a faithful remake of one of its most celebrated titles, enhancing it with additional content and modern systems to appeal to today's audience. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches on August 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates and information about the game, explore our detailed coverage below!
