With Netflix surpassing 300 million subscribers earlier this year, this translates to approximately 150 million viewers consuming anime content - from new releases to classic series.

These findings align with a recent Dentsu study (reported by Variety) surveying 8,600 viewers across 10 countries. The research revealed that 48% of Netflix subscribers watch anime, significantly outpacing competitors like Disney+ (32%) and Amazon Prime Video (29%). Notably, the study found 31% of global viewers watch at least one anime series weekly, with Netflix dominating the U.S. market where 63% of its audience engages with anime.

Over the past decade, Netflix has strategically expanded its anime library. Game adaptations like Castlevania, Devil May Cry, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners have proven particularly successful, alongside original productions such as Beastars and Devilman Crybaby that cater to diverse viewer preferences.

Upcoming Anime Content

At Anime Expo 2025, Netflix reaffirmed its commitment to anime with multiple announcements. Currently airing Dan Da Dan Season 2 will be joined by new episodes of Leviathan and Sakamoto Days later this month. The platform also confirmed more Record of Ragnarok episodes arriving in December, with the second part of Beastars' final season slated for 2026 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 in development.
