Author: Lucy Aug 12,2025

Whether you're aiming to complete research tasks or strengthen your lineup with powerful Shadow Pokémon, taking down Pokémon GO's Team GO Rocket Leaders can be a challenging but rewarding endeavor. With the enhanced strength of Shadow Pokémon and frequently shifting team compositions, facing off against Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff requires preparation and strategy.

We’ve done the legwork for you, delivering everything you need to know about the current Team GO Rocket Leaders. Below, you’ll also find a curated list of optimal counters to help you dominate any leader, no matter who appears in your area.

Where To Find Team GO Rocket Leaders: Sierra, Arlo, & Cliff

Team GO Rocket Leaders aren’t as easy to encounter as regular Grunts. To summon a leader, trainers must first defeat six Team GO Rocket Grunts. Each victory rewards a Mysterious Component. Once you collect six, they automatically combine into a Rocket Radar.

Grunts appear randomly at PokéStops, and every six hours, a hot air balloon carrying a Grunt will appear and follow you for 20 minutes before vanishing. After equipping your Rocket Radar, Team GO Rocket Leaders will begin replacing Grunts at darkened PokéStops and in the floating balloons.
