The PlayStation 5 Pro launched in November 2024 as a more powerful version of the standard PS5. While the base model often forces players to choose between "Quality mode" with native 4K graphics capped at 30fps or "Performance mode" with upscaled 1440p resolution and up to 60fps, the PS5 Pro lets many games run at true 4K resolution and hit up to 60fps. It retails for $699.99—$200 more than the standard PS5—and does not include a disc drive by default. An optional add-on disc drive is sold separately for $79.99.
