Ubisoft is setting the stage for an epic Year 2 of Skull and Bones, aiming to make it the most exciting year yet for the pirate multiplayer game. The company unveiled a series of major content updates during a special Year 2 showcase, featuring new modes, ships, and the long-awaited land combat that fans have been clamoring for since the game's debut.

The highlight of the showcase was the announcement of Season 3: Guts and Glory, which will introduce land combat this fall. Players can look forward to engaging in swordfights and using firearms on land as part of the Rogue Warlord additions. This feature will allow players to explore sandy beaches and damp caves in search of skilled crewmembers called Officers. A teaser video gave fans a glimpse of what to expect, though the full experience will be revealed later this year.

While land combat stands out as the most significant update, Ubisoft has a treasure trove of content planned for 2025. Season 1: Ascent into Chaos, launching today, April 15, introduces an item ascension feature, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the team-based Death Tides PvP mode. Season 2: Oaths of War, set for summer 2025, will bring Megaforts and the formidable Frigate large ships. Season 4: Eye of the Beast, scheduled for this winter, will feature the Kraken, the Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship.

PlayIf these updates sound appealing, you'll be thrilled to know that Skull and Bones is offering a free weekend from April 17 to 21. This is the perfect opportunity for new players to experience pirate PvP and potentially purchase the game at a discounted price, which will be announced soon.

Skull and Bones launched on February 16, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S, receiving a 7/10 rating in our review. Although Ubisoft has not disclosed official sales figures, the company reported "record player engagement" shortly after the game's release. Notably, the launch of Skull and Bones also saw a 200% surge in players of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
