Hazelight Games is celebrating a phenomenal launch for their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, which has sold an impressive 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly established itself as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The game's initial sales surge was remarkable, with 1 million copies sold in the first 48 hours following its launch. This means an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days, showcasing the game's strong market appeal. Split Fiction features a dual-protagonist narrative centered around characters Mio and Zoe, set in a captivating sci-fi universe.

As a co-op game, Split Fiction likely has engaged far more players than the number of copies sold, thanks to its innovative Friend's Pass feature. This allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, significantly expanding its reach. With the game continuing to generate buzz on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous title, the 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an astounding 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
