Exciting news for fans of Stellar Blade—developer Shift Up has officially announced a fully-fledged sequel to the PlayStation-published action game. Launched in April 2024, Stellar Blade received a warm reception, with players praising its gameplay for skillfully blending elements from NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The confirmation came through a chart in Shift Up's latest financial results, showcasing the company's future plans.

According to the chart, the Stellar Blade sequel is slated to be released before 2027. Prior to the sequel's arrival, fans can look forward to a "platform expansion" for the original game, which is likely to refer to its upcoming PC version set for release on June 11, 2025. Additionally, Shift Up is gearing up for the launch of another exciting project, Project Witches, a new multiplatform action RPG that promises to captivate audiences.

Shift Up's ambitious plans were revealed in a presentation slide that outlines how the company expects to expand its franchises. Amidst these developments, Shift Up is also addressing a mysterious PC region lock issue with Sony, which had previously blocked the game's store page on Steam in over 100 countries.

In our review of Stellar Blade, IGN highlighted the game's strengths and weaknesses. While the story and characters were noted for lacking depth, and some RPG elements such as sidequests felt underwhelming, the game's action was a standout. The combat system, inspired by Sekiro, offers rock-solid fundamentals, challenging battles against a variety of monstrous foes, and plenty of hidden treasures that encourage thorough exploration. Stellar Blade truly shines in its action-packed moments, making it a must-play for action game enthusiasts.
