Undecember set to debut new hardcore dungeon in Abyss Gate update

Undecember is preparing to launch a fresh hardcore dungeon experience

  • The Abyss Gate features a single-life rule with no respawns allowed
  • New and veteran players can claim growth-enhancing rewards and more

When it comes to hack 'n slash RPGs, or indeed any role-playing game, you will always find the dedicated hardcore crowd. These are the masters who have optimized their builds inside out, capable of breezing through standard content with ease. But Undecember sees these so-called experts and issues a challenge: the Abyss Gate arrives on October 12th.

Truly demanding content is somewhat rare in the mobile space, perhaps due to prevailing business models. After all, who wants to lose their progress—and hard-earned cash—because of one misstep? Yet, the Abyss Gate remains proudly hardcore by offering just a single life to conquer its trials.

As expected, this heightened difficulty brings equally rewarding prizes for those who persevere. Players who navigate the dungeon without taking damage can claim new Abyss Stones and Gear Slot upgrades upon completion.

Abyss Stones are available in three varieties: Dawn, Destruction, and Distortion. The Dawn stone boosts the stats of specific gear types, while the Destruction variant enhances unique equipment. Meanwhile, Distortion stones allow for modifications to existing skill mechanics.

Additionally, two new skill runes—Wrathful Blow and Toxic Mist—are joining the roster, along with the Chain of Pain link rune, providing even more strategies for tackling the dungeon.

Of course, there are numerous incentives awaiting players in this new season. You will receive a Season Promotion Box to speed up your progression, alongside various other bonuses and guaranteed drops of useful gear.

Phew, it certainly sounds like the Abyss Gate is going to be lethal. And speaking of deadly action, if you're seeking more intense challenges, why not check out our Hitman: World of Assassination review?
