Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 faces yet another delay, pushing its release to October 2025. This latest shift, announced in a recent update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room, follows a series of delays that have plagued the game's development. The new release date is a few months later than the previously anticipated launch in the first half of 2025, but it comes with the assurance that the core development of the game is complete.
"The status of the game right now is that the game is done," stated Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Executive Producer Marco Behrmann. "We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases."
Despite the disappointment of another delay, the update video offers some encouraging news. The Chinese Room has enhanced the game with additional content, deeper narrative elements, and further character development since the last major update. Fans can look forward to an "evolved role" for the character Fabien in the storyline upon release. However, updates on the game's progress will become less frequent, as announced on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter page.
The journey of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been fraught with challenges since its announcement in 2019 by developer Hardsuit Labs, with an initial launch window set for Q1 2020. Delays quickly followed, pushing the release to late 2020, then to 2021, accompanied by layoffs at Hardsuit in March 2021. A significant change occurred in 2023 when Hardsuit was replaced by The Chinese Room, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, with the latest delay, the game is set to launch in October 2025.
While there's uncertainty about whether Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will successfully captivate players upon its fall release, The Chinese Room remains optimistic. In the meantime, Paradox Interactive has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 achieve a successful launch, a different developer will be tasked with creating Bloodlines 3.
