What Is a Snap Recap?

If you missed out on reviewing your Snapchat history last year, it's because the Snap Recap feature is brand new for 2024. Much like Spotify Wrapped and the Twitch 2024 recap, Snap Recap compiles your year's data into an engaging summary. Unlike those services, however, Snap Recap doesn't dive deep into statistics. Instead, it selects a single snap from each month to showcase, offering a lighthearted journey through your year. As you spend time with the Snap Recap, it seamlessly transitions into other Memories features, including flashbacks from the same dates in previous years, allowing you to revisit past moments captured in what was intended to be a fleeting format.

How To View Your 2024 Snapchat Snap Recap

Accessing your 2024 Snap Recap is straightforward since it's automatically generated. Start from the main camera page and swipe up to enter the Memories feature, taking care not to press and hold or tap the camera shutter button, which would initiate a photo or video capture.

Once in the Memories menu, look for Your 2024 Snap Recap highlighted as a video. It should be prominently displayed, making it easy to find. Screenshot by The Escapist. Simply tap on the 2024 Snap Recap icon, avoiding the small blue share icon, to start viewing. After a brief introductory cover page, you'll be treated to the snaps Snapchat has curated for you, one from each month of 2024.

The recap will play automatically, though you might want to speed through certain memories, like those involving Psyduck-themed Ibuprofen bottles. You can tap the screen to advance more quickly. Like any other Snap, you have the option to save, edit, or send your 2024 Snap Recap. You can also post it to your stories for a wider audience. Remember, it remains private unless you choose to share it.

Why Don’t I Have a Snapchat Recap?

If you're not seeing a 2024 Snap Recap, there could be several reasons. According to Snapchat Support, the feature is being rolled out gradually, so it's possible yours hasn't been generated yet. Snapchat also mentions that various factors determine whether a user receives a recap, with the number of saved Snaps being one example. If you're not a regular Snapchat user or don't frequently send photos or videos, this might explain the absence of your recap. Unfortunately, if you still don't have a 2024 Snapchat Recap after waiting for the rollout to complete, you won't be able to request one to be created.
