Warzone Mobile service ends as Call of Duty shuts down

COD: Warzone Mobile Removed from App Stores

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is being removed from the App Store and Google Play Store, marking the end of its short-lived mobile run. Players can currently still access online gameplay, and any remaining COD Points can be redeemed in COD: Mobile.

Activision has officially announced the sunset of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile just over a year after launch. As of May 18th, the game has been pulled from digital storefronts and will no longer receive seasonal updates or new content. The developers have disabled all real-money transactions, and players who haven't installed the game before the cutoff date will permanently lose access.

Abrupt End for Mobile Warzone Experiment

This shutdown represents a surprising reversal for what was positioned as a flagship mobile adaptation of the popular battle royale franchise. Despite faithfully translating the Warzone experience to mobile devices, the game reportedly failed to achieve comparable success to its PC and console counterparts.

Existing players who already have the game installed can continue playing online after May 19th. Matchmaking services will remain operational for the time being, though social features have been disabled. Activision hasn't yet announced when servers will be taken offline completely. The in-game store remains accessible, but strictly limited to purchases using existing COD Point balances.

Point Transfer Program Available

As a goodwill gesture, Activision is allowing players to transfer their unused Warzone Mobile COD Points to Call of Duty: Mobile until August 15th. By logging into COD: Mobile with their Activision account, players will receive double the value of their remaining points plus bonus rewards.

The May 19th deadline looms for anyone who hasn't yet installed or reinstalled Warzone Mobile - after this date, no further refunds will be processed and the game will become completely unavailable. This unexpected closure serves as a cautionary tale about the unpredictable nature of mobile gaming, even for established franchises.
