Seka – A Card Game
Seka, also known as Sikka, Sichka, Strekoza, Trinka, Trynka, Drynka, Tri Lista, Dva Lista, and more, is a captivating card game with various names and variations.
Features:
- The game can be enjoyed by 2 to 10 players.
- A full deck of 52 cards is used. For games with up to 4 players, a reduced deck of 20 cards (from Tens to Aces) is utilized.
- For games with 5 to 10 players, 36 cards (from Sixes to Aces) are used.
- A Joker is included, often designated as a Six of any suit by agreement.
Card Values:
- Joker and Ace: 11 points each
- King to Ten: 10 points each
- Lower cards: valued at their face value
The player with the highest total points wins.
Game Rules:
The dealer is determined by a draw. Players contribute a pre-agreed sum to the pot.
The dealer then deals three cards to each player, who decide whether to discard or play.
Points are scored for cards of the same suit – known as "hlyust" (e.g., a Seven and a Jack of Clubs score 17 points).
If no matching suits are held, the player scores only the points from their highest card.
Holding three cards of the same rank (trikon, tryanka) always outscores any hlyust but not a higher trikon.
Bidding then begins with the player to the right of the dealer placing a bet.
Subsequent players can fold, call, or raise the bet.
Once the round concludes, the first player decides whether to continue bidding or reveal cards.
The pot goes to the player with the highest point total.
If multiple players have the same score, they can either split the pot or start a new round ("svára").
"Svára" involves re-starting the game with the same pot plus an additional contribution of 1/N (where N is the previous pot's total).
Other players can also contribute and join the new round.
Bluffing is allowed, where a player can raise the bet despite having fewer points.
If successful, the bluffer wins the pot without revealing their cards.
The player to the dealer's left can place an additional bet of any size, known as "zatémnit."
This player must not look at their cards.
Subsequent players wishing to continue must double the "zatémnit" bet.
