Japanese Mahjong is an engaging game played under the unique rules of the Japanese style. In this version, players interact with the game through a Slider located beneath the screen. By moving the Slider, you select a tile, and with a tap, you can discard it. The objective is to form a winning hand consisting of four Melds and one Pair. For example, a winning hand might look like this: \[1, 2, 3\]\[6, 6, 6\]\[6, 7, 8\]\[N, N, N\]\[4, 4\]. However, certain hands are not valid if they involve Chi, Pon, or Open Kan moves.
It's important to be cautious when using 1 and 9 tiles in Chi and Pon, as these can affect the validity of your hand. In Japanese Mahjong, having at least one Yaku, or scoring element, is essential for a valid hand. You can achieve a Yaku by declaring Reach, which costs 1,000 points. Note that you cannot declare Reach if you have already used Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. A closed hand, one that hasn't used these actions, can yield higher points.
Understanding the concept of a Lost Hand is crucial. A Lost Hand occurs when your hand is Waiting to win but cannot be completed by another player's discard because you have already discarded a winning tile yourself. Even with a Lost Hand, self-draw remains a viable option. The key strategy here is to ensure you never win off another player's discard (Ron) with a tile you have previously discarded. Always analyze the other players' discards to reason out potential winning hands and secure your victory.
