Beloved Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his work in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and countless other titles, has shared a moving message of gratitude following a serious health scare. Last week, he was found “barely alive” in his Atlanta hotel room, where he was attending a benefit event for the National Alzheimer’s Association.

A video posted on a GoFundMe page—which has already raised an astounding $174,653 to cover his medical expenses and other bills—reveals that Johnson was in a coma. In the video, a visibly emotional Johnson expresses his deep appreciation for the outpouring of support: “I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there, and I'm grateful to each and every one of you.”

He recounts the events leading up to his hospitalization: After arriving in Atlanta and checking into his hotel, he failed to appear at the scheduled event. His wife, Kim Johnson, alerted the hotel, and security personnel, along with EMTs, found him in critical condition, struggling to find a pulse. “Rumors of my demise,” he jokes, “weren’t exaggerated. It was very close, very close. But I’m still here.”

Johnson credits his wife's quick thinking and the actions of his son, who contacted security, with saving his life. He spent five days in a coma before learning of the GoFundMe campaign organized by his friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker, and his wife.

He extends heartfelt thanks to numerous individuals and organizations: the National Alzheimer’s Association for supporting his family, Ted Leonsis (chairman of the Washington Capitals parent company) for a generous $25,000 donation, Glasser and Elliker, and Bethesda, whose social media support meant the world to him. “You say that I’m your friend,” he says to Bethesda, “I am. Always will be. Love you guys.” He concludes with a message to his fans: “I love you all. I’m not going anywhere. It’s going to be a while as I work my way back, but I’m coming back. I look forward to seeing and hearing you all then. Cheers.”

Johnson’s extensive voice acting career spans far beyond Bethesda games, including numerous film and television roles. However, his contributions to the Bethesda universe are legendary, encompassing iconic characters like Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance (Oblivion), multiple Daedric Princes (Morrowind), Fawkes and Maister Burke (Fallout 3), Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II (Skyrim), Moe Cronin (Fallout 4), and most recently, Ron Hope in Starfield.
