Boss fights in The First Berserker: Khazan can be challenging, especially when you're not fully prepared for the twists and turns they offer. Here’s a detailed guide on how to conquer the Blade Phantom, a formidable foe you'll encounter on the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass.
Phase 1

As you begin the battle, you'll find yourself in a castle with floors awash in a crimson liquid. The Blade Phantom is a relentless adversary, testing your ability to balance stamina and aggression. Here are the attacks you need to watch out for:
- A six-hit combo featuring four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being delayed.
- A three-hit combo with two punches followed by a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo that starts with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ends with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo of flashing punches, culminating in a grab that you must dodge.
Beyond these melee assaults, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing damage and red spikes to emerge in front of it. If it wields a spear, brace for a quick throw and a teleporting smash. When using a blade, it unleashes a swift six-hit combo. It may also vanish and dash around the battlefield before striking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks is crucial. Parry or dodge effectively to create windows for your attacks, depleting the Phantom's stamina and setting up opportunities for Brutal Attacks. Continue this strategy until you reduce its health by about half, triggering the transition to Phase 2.
Phase 2

The second phase begins with the Blade Phantom launching four claw attacks, followed by a high spear throw. After the spear hits the ground, move away from the impact zone to avoid the subsequent leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a hammer smash.
In addition to these new claw attacks, the Phantom maintains most of its Phase 1 moves but adds a spear thrust and follow-up, as well as swift dual-wielding attacks ranging from four to six hits. It teleports more often now, and when wielding the greatsword, be wary of multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this, restoring your stamina and opening the boss up for further attacks.
Maximize your damage by attacking when the Blade Phantom's stamina is low, and initiate Brutal Attacks just before the window closes. This strategy will help you efficiently defeat the boss, earning you 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
