Attack the Tentacles

Nu Udra poses a significant challenge in *Monster Hunter Wilds* due to its expansive reach with massive tentacles, which makes dodging its attacks difficult. Melee weapon users should focus on these tentacles, as they are the closest limbs within reach. Severing them not only provides additional materials but also reduces the threat from these powerful appendages.

Aim for the Mouth

Ranged weapon users have several target options, but the mouth is the most effective due to its 4-star weakness. Although it can be hard to spot against Nu Udra's nearly pitch-black skin, it remains the prime target. The head, with a 3-star weakness to ammo damage, is another viable spot, particularly effective for blunt and cut damage.

Use Watermoss

Given Nu Udra's fire affinity, it frequently uses fire-based attacks, including setting itself ablaze, which can inflict the Fireblight debuff. To counteract this, using Watermoss is highly recommended. It allows you to attack safely without suffering from the status ailment, making it easier to engage the monster.

Wear Fire Resistant Gear

To enhance your survivability against Nu Udra's fiery assaults, equip gear with fire resistance. The Quematrice armor set is ideal, featuring the Fire Resistance skill. Additionally, consider using decorations like the Fire Res Jewel to reduce fire damage or the Stream Jewel to boost your water attack, which is effective against Nu Udra.

Beware of Grab Attacks

One of Nu Udra's most dangerous moves is its grab attack. If caught, the monster will attempt to incinerate you with a stream of fire after a brief pause. During this pause, you can use a knife to break free or target its weak spots with a Slinger to escape.

Capturing Nu Udra requires preparation with either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, you must first weaken the monster until it's nearly dead, indicated by a skull icon next to its boss icon. Once it's sufficiently weakened, set the trap. You can lure Nu Udra into the trap using meat as bait or by running behind it while it's chasing you. Once trapped, quickly use a Tranquilizer to put it to sleep—you have only five seconds before it breaks free.
