When you're nearing the max level in *Rune Slayer*, tackling the Hill Troll becomes a top priority. Not only does it offer a substantial amount of XP, but it's also an excellent spot for farming early endgame loot. The challenge, however, lies in locating this formidable foe. This guide will help you **find the Hill Troll in *Rune Slayer*** and provide insights into strategies, loot, and quests related to it.
Hill Troll Location in Rune Slayer
**The Hill Troll is nestled in a cave on the side of the mountain in Bahlgar.** The most straightforward route to this location starts from the elevator in Lakeshire. Head down to Bahlgar as you would when preparing to battle Beastmen. Instead of engaging the Beastmen, stick close to the mountain's wall and continue around it. You'll pass **two platinum deposits** and should then look to **one side of the mountain** to spot the Troll cave's entrance. To enter, you'll need to jump into the opening, ideally **on a mount**. It may seem tricky at first, but once you've done it, returning to the cave will become second nature. Hill Troll – Strategy, Loot, and Quest
Despite its intimidating appearance, the Hill Troll is **considered one of the easier mini-bosses** in *Rune Slayer*. You'll likely need to face it multiple times, so becoming familiar with its attack patterns is crucial.

**Do not attempt to fight the Hill Troll alone.** Even though its attacks are slow and predictable, teaming up with at least one other player is advisable. Many players frequent the Troll for farming, so finding a group shouldn't be difficult. Moreover, the Troll respawns just **90 seconds** after being defeated.
The Hill Troll wields a giant pillar, executing **slow but powerful attacks**. You can parry and block most of these, except when it raises the pillar overhead with both hands; in this case, you should run to avoid being stunned. With sufficient damage, you can stagger the Troll. If you're playing the Warrior **Class**, a well-timed Counter can almost always stun the Troll.
While the Hill Troll occasionally drops extremely rare equipment, the more reliable loot includes **Troll Hides and Troll Heads**. Troll Hides are essential for **crafting solid endgame gear**, which, while **not the best**, will adequately prepare you for tougher challenges like the Mother Spider.

**The Troll Head serves as a Quest item for the repeatable Hodor Quest.** You can hand over a Troll Head to Hodor, who's positioned near the cave, every hour for a chance at some random, potentially overpowered loot. If you're farming the Hill Troll, taking on this quest is a smart move.
Can You Tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer?
**No, you cannot tame the Hill Troll** in *Rune Slayer*, even if you're playing as a Beast Tamer Archer. As a mini-boss, the Hill Troll is too large and cumbersome to serve as a pet, and it's unlikely to fit outside its cave. Stick to taming more manageable creatures like the Mud Crab if you're a Beast Tamer Archer.
