The success story at Games Workshop, the creators of Warhammer 40,000, continues to unfold as the company announces a generous £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus for its employees. This move comes on the heels of a stellar financial performance for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, showcasing a significant rise in both core and licensing revenues.

Based in Nottingham, UK, Games Workshop reported a core revenue of £560 million, a notable increase from the previous year's £494.7 million. Licensing revenue also saw a substantial jump, reaching £50 million from £31 million. The company's core profit rose to £210 million from £174.8 million, while licensing profit soared to £45 million from £27 million. These figures culminated in a pre-tax profit of £255 million, up from £203 million the previous year.

In appreciation of their staff's contributions to these impressive results, Games Workshop is distributing the £20 million bonus equally among its approximately 1,500 employees. This means each employee will receive a bonus of £13,333, which translates to about $18,000. This amount is an increase from the £18 million bonus distributed the previous year.

While Games Workshop's primary business remains the sale of miniatures for tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000, the company is increasingly leveraging its intellectual property. The success of video games such as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and animations like Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode have significantly boosted licensing revenue. Additionally, a deal with Amazon for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe promises future films and TV series, while Space Marine 3 is already in development.

Looking ahead, Games Workshop acknowledges that the record licensing revenue from the past period is unlikely to be repeated in the 2025/26 financial year. However, the company remains committed to its licensing strategy. With the Warhammer franchise at its peak, Games Workshop is poised for continued growth and innovation.

At the recent Warhammer Skulls showcase, Games Workshop unveiled exciting developments, including a Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and a new Siege mode for Space Marine 2. You can find all the latest announcements and trailers from the event here.
