NPIXEL has announced the official shutdown of Gran Saga, ending its brief international service. The developers confirmed that all services will terminate on April 30th, 2025, with in-app purchases and downloads already suspended.
While Gran Saga launched successfully in Japan back in 2021, its global version only arrived in November 2024, meaning it survived for barely six months before the decision to close it was made.
The shutdown appears to result from financial instability and an inability to sustain the service long-term. Despite a strong initial impression, the game failed to secure a solid position in the highly competitive global market.
The genre is crowded with established titles that have loyal player bases, making it extremely difficult for newcomers to succeed without offering something truly innovative. Although the game performed well in Japan, that success did not translate internationally, leading to an early closure.

This closure is part of a growing trend of gacha RPGs shutting down. Last month, we covered the end of My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero, and it wasn't alone. Several other games have also folded due to market oversaturation. With so many choices, players often stay with familiar titles, making survival difficult for new or niche games.
Players who made recent purchases can submit refund requests until May 30th. However, refunds may not be possible if the items were already used or due to other store policies.
If you were among the players exploring Ethprozen, this is a disappointing farewell—unfortunately, a scenario that's becoming increasingly common in the mobile gaming world.
