Insomniac Games, the studio behind the popular Resistance series, made a strong push for a fourth installment in the franchise, according to founder and outgoing president Ted Price. In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Price revealed that a concept for Resistance 4 was pitched but unfortunately never received the green light. He described the proposed game as a "wonderful concept" that didn't align with the timing and market opportunities at the time. Price also expressed the team's passion for expanding the Resistance universe, noting the series' compelling alternate history setting involving the alien Chimera and their mysterious origins.
The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac after their work on the Ratchet and Clank games, consists of three first-person shooter titles set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951. These games were released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects, including Marvel's Spider-Man and new iterations of Ratchet and Clank.
Ted Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games earlier this year after over three decades with the company. He will be succeeded by Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang, who have been named Co-Studio Heads. Insomniac's most recent release was Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which has now been made available on PC. The studio's next project is set to be Marvel's Wolverine.
