Nintendo has released an update for Mario Kart World, addressing several in-game problems that caused crashes for some players.

Version 1.1.1 is available for download now and will install automatically the next time Nintendo Switch 2 owners launch the game. This marks the first major update since the racer's day-one patch two weeks ago, which enabled online multiplayer on Nintendo's new console.

Over the past two weeks, players have uncovered numerous Mario Kart World secrets, from unlocking Rainbow Road and Mirror Mode to finding clever Nintendo Easter eggs. However, some users encountered technical issues that this new patch aims to resolve.

Without a doubt, Mario Kart World has been the standout title in the Switch 2's launch lineup, selling faster in Japan than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did during the original Switch's launch. The breakout character, Cow, has been especially popular with fans—even earning praise from a Japanese farmer who appreciated the character's authentically "mucky" rear.

So, what's next for Mario Kart World? Nintendo hasn't announced any plans yet. As players continue to climb the online ranks and discover more P-Switches in the Free Roam world, the community is eager to see how the game might expand with future updates, potentially including new costumes, missions, or entirely new tracks and areas.

"While Mario Kart World may not entirely prove that an open-world format was the necessary evolution for the series, its excellent multiplayer racing, incredible polish, and thrilling new Knockout Tour mode more than uphold its legendary legacy," wrote IGN in our review.
