Mastering Demon's Hand: A Guide to Playing the Card Game in League of Legends

Author: Hunter Apr 11,2025

If you're a fan of *League of Legends*, you'll be excited to know about the new minigame, Demon’s Hand, introduced in the client and available until the end of April. If you've played *Balatro*, you'll find the gameplay familiar, as Demon’s Hand is a card game with a similar twist.

League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started

To dive into Demon’s Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once updated, click the Play button, navigate to the game type menu, and select Demon’s Hand. This will launch you into the story introduction and then into your first round of the card game.

On your screen, your hand is displayed in the bottom row of cards. The bottom right corner shows your health, coins, and percent crit chance. Above that, you'll find your Sigil box, which can hold up to six Sigils, though you start with none. Note that your health isn't restored after each battle; instead, visit tent locations on the map to restore a percentage of your health when possible.

The enemy is represented by the card at the top, with its health and damage shown in the bottom right and left corners of the card, respectively. To the left of the enemy card, you'll see an attack coin, indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy attacks you. On the left edge of the screen, there's a book listing all the hands you can play as attacks, along with their base damage in a standard round.

How To Play Demon’s Hand in League of Legends

To deal damage, you play poker hands, which are renamed in Demon’s Hand but follow the same concept. The ultimate hand is The Demon’s Hand, equivalent to a royal flush. Below is a list of hands you can play along with their poker equivalents:

  • Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
  • Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
  • Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
  • Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
  • Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
  • March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
  • Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
  • Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
  • Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
  • The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)

In addition to the base damage, the numeric value of each card contributes to the total damage. If the enemy has a special ability that negates a specific suit, cards of that suit will be crossed out. You can still play them, but their numeric value won't be added to the base damage.

Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils

Sigils are another key element, which you can purchase during store phases marked by coins on the map. You earn coins by defeating enemies, and these can be used to buy Sigils. Each Sigil has a unique ability, visible when you hover over them in the store or during a round. Some Sigils enhance specific hands, like boosting Dyad damage, while others might grant you more turns between enemy attacks or reduce the damage you take.

That's a comprehensive guide on how to play the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, be sure to check out the upcoming April Fools skins to see what's in store for you in Summoner’s Rift.
