Square Enix Reveals Special NieR 15th Anniversary Novel

Square Enix commemorated NieR's 15th Anniversary with multiple announcements, including upcoming projects and events. During the April 19 livestream, the company introduced an online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option.

The novel will receive three chapter updates, with the first already available. Subsequent chapters will arrive on April 25 and May 2. The story follows "a 'servant' encountering a mysterious boy with an enigmatic presence."

The company also launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as the central hub for the online novel and future anniversary content.

Exhibition, Concert Dates, and Exclusive Merchandise

An exhibition event at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro will showcase new artwork featuring protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Ticket details will be announced soon.

The NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 expands with additional performances in Osaka (July 25-26) and Tokyo (August 2-3). Tickets are currently available through lottery on the official concert website.

New merchandise includes a jazz arrangement album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin' or Other 12024 (December 2024), the comprehensive NieR Weapon Story book with over 650 weapon backstories, and scale figures of the series' main characters.

Re[in]carnation Developer Insights

The first mobile entry in the NieR series, Re[in]carnation, will receive monthly developer blogs starting April 28. These updates will provide behind-the-scenes creation details throughout the year.

Despite the game's January 2021 launch and April 2024 shutdown due to monetization challenges, the sudden announcement of developer blogs has sparked speculation about potential sequels or remakes, though no official confirmation exists.

The livestream concluded with a 20-minute live performance of iconic NieR soundtracks. Square Enix promises more announcements for NieR fans in the coming months.
