Path of Exile 2's endgame demands significant preparation. Fortunately, the developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and even weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, its location and the way the buff interacts with other game mechanics can be confusing. This guide clarifies how to find and utilize this powerful buff.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan shrine appears twice in the campaign: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine in each act grants +10% Lightning Resistance. Its understated icon on the world map often leads to players overlooking it.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, there's no guaranteed path to the shrine within the Spires of Deshar. However, diligent exploration will reveal a shrine resembling the image above. Upon interaction, the surrounding metal automatons will activate and attack. This interaction triggers all automatons on the map.

A convenient strategy is to utilize the checkpoint near the shrine. If you reach the exit checkpoint first, fast travel back to avoid traversing the entire map.

Activating the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance buff is applied instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's automatically granted upon contact.

Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both locations yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Why My Lightning Resistance Isn't Showing Correctly

Many players are puzzled to see negative elemental resistances even after activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each act (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected).

Therefore, after completing Act 1, activating the shrine in Act 2 results in a net zero Lightning Resistance (buff cancels out the debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the -10% debuff from Act 2 combines with the existing -30% debuff, resulting in a -40% Lightning Resistance. Activating the shrine in Act 2 Cruel will then increase your Lightning Resistance to -30%.

To verify the buff's effectiveness, remove all your gear in the endgame and check your resistances. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you have successfully completed the Sisters of Garukhan encounters.
