Sunbird Studio has officially released Prickle for Android and iOS. This grid-based puzzle takes clear cues from Tetris and Sokoban-style challenges. You'll guide a family of hedgehogs on their journey, helping each one reach their goal.
Assist an Adorable Prickly Family in Prickle
In this game, you enter the delightful world of DadHog. He's a devoted hedgehog dad, tasked with finding his lost hoglet children and leading them back home. Each turn demands thoughtful consideration in this clever maze adventure.
The developer created a unique mechanic called a Prickle—a Tetris-like shape that forms as hoglets attach themselves to DadHog and each other. Once a hoglet joins, it remains fixed in place.
Levels grow increasingly difficult as the Prickle expands and becomes harder to manage. Navigating the growing family formation through narrow hedge-lined paths and obstacles requires smart rotations and careful route planning.
Prickle features 48 levels spanning four distinct seasons. Summer introduces you to basic navigation, while Autumn adds acorns that cling to your Prickle, increasing its size.
During Winter, you'll encounter puddles DadHog can't cross, though his hoglets might need to traverse them. When Spring arrives, blossoms appear that clear away any remaining acorns.
A Minimalist 2D Puzzle Experience
One of Prickle's most striking features is its visual presentation. Every character, maze element, and menu text was hand-drawn using Godot and Krita, creating an endearing pen-and-paper aesthetic.
The game displays entirely in black and white, though you can enable subtle color highlights. You also have the choice to invert the visuals from black-on-white to white-on-black. Charming details enhance the experience, like DadHog falling asleep if you leave the game idle for a few minutes.
